BP Wants Parity in Domestic, Imported LNG Pricing in India

BP's Indian arm has sought parity between domestic gas and imported liquefied natural gas pricing, the Economic Times reported.

The company said marketing freedom will help its joint venture with Reliance Industries develop fields that will start production after 2015, but investment decisions for which have to be taken this year.

BP chief economist Christof Ruhl, who was in India to release BP's Energy Outlook 2030, said the pricing disparity was not sustainable in the long run as price regulation would chase away investors, the newspaper report said.

New discoveries at D6 and NEC-25 block in the Bay of Bengal will be the next wave in gas production and RILBP joint venture is planning to develop present and future gas fields of D6 as an integrated project.
