BP picks new head for gas & low-carbon business

BP has hired Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, the former CEO of German clean energy developer RWE Renewables, as the new vice president of its gas and low-carbon energy business, the UK major said on September 14.

Dotzenrath will join BP on March 1, 2022, two months after the departure of the company's current vice president for gas and low-carbon energy, Dev Sanyal. Sanyal has led the business since 2016, overseeing BP's entry into the solar industry in 2017 and an expansion of its biofuel operations.

BP CEO Bernard Looney described Dotzenrath as "exactly the right person for BP, at exactly the right time – a global respected and deeply experienced leader in renewable energy with a proven track record of transforming and growing businesses."

Dotzenrath helmed RWE Renewables between October 2019 and August 2021. During this time it developed into one of the world's biggest renewable power companies and the second largest offshore wind player, after integrating the renewable businesses of E.ON and Innogy in 2019.
