Blue Energy wraps up drilling phase at Queensland CBM project

Sydney-listed Blue Energy has completed the drilling programme on the Sapphire coalbed methane project in Queensland, it said on November 21. Drilling comprised two pilot wells, Sapphire 5V and Sapphire 6V.

“The Silver City Drilling Rig #23 has now been de-mobilised and activities at Sapphire pilot are now focused on installation and commissioning of all surface facilities at Sapphire 5V and 6V to enable production testing to commence in the last week of November,” the company said.

The Sapphire block is part of Blue’s ATP 814 CBM field in Queensland’s North Bowen basin. The Sapphire pilot campaign drilled a total of approximately 14,000 m of hole with a total of approximately 8,000 m in horizontal section.
