BKV-BPP Power acquires Texas gas power plant

BKV-BPP Power, a joint venture between Denver-based BKV Corporation (BKV) and Banpu Power US Corporation, a unit of Thailand’s Banpu Power, has completed the acquisition of the entity that owns the Temple II power plant, a natural gas-fuelled power plant located in Temple, Texas, BKV announced on July 11.

The Temple II power plant is a combined cycle facility that began commercial operations in the second half of 2015. It has the capacity to provide energy to approximately 750,000 homes in central Texas.

"This is an important milestone for us as we continue to grow and build a power company that reflects the values, innovation and ESG leadership of our partners – BKV and Banpu Power US,” Robert Dowd, managing director of BKV-BPP, said.

BKV’s core business involves natural gas production from its upstream operations, with a goal of achieving net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by the end of 2025.
