Bird Construction Wins BC LNG Concrete Contract

Canada’s Bird Construction said June 2 it had signed a contract for an undisclosed value and amount of construction at an un-named LNG project in northwestern BC.

The contract is for the construction of concrete foundations and paving inside the battery limits of the project’s LNG trains process area. Although Bird did not name the project, it is assumed to be the Royal-Dutch Shell-led LNG Canada project in Kitimat, the only shore-based liquefaction and export terminal currently under construction in BC.

The contract will start immediately and continue into 2022, Bird said.

“This project spans three fiscal years and is a great example of the scale that our industrial self-perform capabilities can execute,” Bird CEO Teri McKibbon said. “We will draw upon our expertise and resources from across the country, including our Bird heavy civil team.”
