Bangladesh Invites Thai PTT to Explore for Hydrocarbons in Bay of Bengal

Bangladesh has invited Thai state owned PTT to bid for exploration in the Bay of Bengal, local news portal bdnews24.com reported Thursday.

Country’s ambassador to Bangkok Saida Muna Tasneem met with Thai Energy Minister Narongchai Akrasanee on Thursday.

Narongchai said PTT Exploration and Production Pcl would be interested in “any open bidding” licensing process in oil and gas exploration in the Bay, the new portal reported.

Tasneem also invited both private and government investment from Thailand in coal-fired and LNG-based power plants.
