Bangladesh’s state owned energy firm Petrobangla has decided to partner Russia’s Gazprom to develop 10 new onshore gas wells in the country.

The two companies would develop five development wells and five exploratory well. The development wells will be in the established Titas and Rashidpur gas fields owned by Bangladesh Gas Fields Limited and Syldhet Gas Fields Limited respectively.

These wells are expected to produce about 250 and 300 million cubic feet of natural gas a day.

The exploratory wells will be in the Begumganj, Shahbazpur, Semutang and Sundalpur fields owned by BAPEX, the Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company.
