Baker Hughes to supply refrigeration packages for Tellurian's Driftwood LNG project

US LNG exporter Tellurian announced on September 6 it had reached an agreement to receive eight main refrigerant compression packages for the first phase of its Driftwood LNG project in Louisiana.

The deal outlines a delivery schedule for eight LM6000PF+ gas turbines, main refrigerant compressors, and control units required for the project, Tellurian said, noting this would support the launch of LNG production in 2027. Baker Hughes is also on schedule to complete fabrication of the electric-powered, zero-emissions integrated compressor line (ICL) packages and other turbomachinery equipment for Driftwood Pipeline 200, Tellurian said, under a 2022 contract award.

“Bechtel has done a tremendous job preparing the site and has already completed the piling and compressor foundations for Plant 1 of Driftwood LNG,” Tellurian CEO Octavio Simoes said. “This agreement with Baker Hughes firms up our plans to secure the critical technology for Driftwood Phase 1.”

Tellurian reported a widened net loss for the second quarter of $59.6mn, versus $35,000 in the same period last year, as a result of weaker commodity prices. It posted adjusted EBITDA of $8.1mn, versus $53.2mn a year earlier.
