"We support the progress of energy and our technology, making it safer, cleaner and more efficient for both people and the planet, with the aim of total reduction of carbon emissions and a sustainable energy future," Baker Hughes CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said in a statement. "This is an ambitious goal, which will require a significant acceleration of technological development and which, to meet the global energy demand, cannot ignore the responsible and efficient use of energy sources."

Simonelli said the zero emissions goal could be achieve through a collaborative effort across the entire supply chain, adding that Italy had "great potential to be a key part of it."

"We are convinced that the Italian supply chain can make a great effort in supporting the energy transition process underway both globally and in our country where we can be protagonists able to give a significant contribution," Oscar Guerra, CEO of Rosetti Marino, added.
