Azeri Gas Output Dips in 1Q

Azerbaijan's gross gas production in 1Q2017 was 6.956bn m3 , 6.8% less than 1Q16, the country's state statistics committee (SSC) said late April 18. 

Of that 4.789bn m3 was sales gas, down by 1% year on year. Shah Deniz’s output was 2.45bn m3.

In full year 2016 Azerbaijan produced 29.4bn m3 of gross gas, including 18.71bn m3 of sales gas, of which 6.751bn m3 was exported.

Azerbaijan plans to pump 18% more gas into underground storage facilities in 2017.

In 2017 state-owned Socar plans to pump 2.35bn m3 of gas to the Garadag and Galmaz underground storage facilities, 18.2% more than last year. As reported by its producing subsidiary Azneft, 1.806bn m3 of this volume will come from Azneft, and 544mn m3 from other sources.

To date, the total active capacity of the Garadagh and Galmaz fields used as underground storage facilities is 3.5bn m3. The residual volumes of active gas in the storage facilities are on average 800mn m3. During the 2016 gas injection season (April-November), some 1.987bn m3 was pumped into the UGS facilities Garadagh and Galmaz.
