Azerbaijan Gas Exports Up 8% in 9M

Azerbaijan exported 6.23bn m3 gas in January-September 2017, which is 7.7% higher than in the same period last year.

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, the total value of gas exported from Azerbaijan in that 9M period was $987mn, up 2.6% year-on-year.

In the whole of 2016, Azerbaijan exported 8bn m3 of natural gas worth $1.14bn.

Azerbaijani gas is currently exported both directly by state producer Socar to Georgia, and by the Shah-Deniz consortium via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.

Azerbaijan produced 21.09bn m3 gross gas in 9M2017 (down 5.3% year on year), of which sales gas was 13.51bn (down 3.4%). The difference between the two figures was flared gas and gas reinjected to oil fields.
