McKinnell has been with Santos as deputy CFO since 2019. She had previously spent 13 years at Woodside where she held several senior executive roles. Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher said Neilson and McKinnell would begin a handover immediately.

"I look forward to working with both Anthea and Anthony in their new leadership roles as we deliver our strategy to decarbonise our base business, transition to cleaner energy and clean fuels, and deliver shareholder value from the Oil Search merger,” Gallagher said.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Santos said it has been listed on the official list of the PNGX, Papua New Guinea's National Stock Exchange. The listing of Santos' shares on PNGX relates to its merger with Oil Search which became effective on December 10.
