The company believes de Blocq’s appointment will drive its planned strategic growth post-merger, bringing significant African oil and gas operational and technical expertise. de Blocq will succeed long-standing CEO Johan Visage.

Kinetiko is focused on conventional gas and coalbed methane opportunities in southern Africa. Its flagship Amersfoort gas project in South Africa and the adjacent exploration rights are held through a South African joint venture company Afro Energy. Kinetiko holds a 49% interest and a 50% control interest in Afro.

“The company has a terrific project and perfect opportunity to develop into a major onshore gas producer and is poised on the cusp of becoming a substantial source of high-quality gas to help alleviate the national energy shortage,” de Blocq said.
