Australian LNG export revenue drops 24% in June

Australian LNG export revenue in June 2023 amounted to A$5.4bn ($3.96bn), energy consultant EnergyQuest announced on July 16. This figure represents a decline from the A$5.8bn recorded in May. Additionally, the revenue for June 2023 was 24% lower compared to June 2022.

In terms of volume, Australia exported 6.59mn metric tons (mn mt) of LNG in June, a decrease from the 6.82 mn mt shipped in May.

However, looking at the financial year that ended on June 30, 2023 (2022/23), Australia generated a total revenue of A$92.35bn from LNG exports. This result marks a 31% increase compared to the A$70.6bn earned in the previous financial year (2021/22). The volume of LNG exports for 2022/23 stood at 81.9 mn mt, slightly lower than the 82.5 mn mt recorded in 2021/22.
