    Aussies east coast LNG exports up 6.5% in February

Aussies east coast LNG exports up 6.5% in February

Australian LNG exports from the east coast were 1.98mn tonnes in February, up 6.5% year/year, according to data published by Gladstone Port Corp. on March 6.

China was the biggest buyer, importing 984,025 tonnes of LNG, up from 822,914 tonnes in February of the previous year. Korea imported 304,862 tonnes, down from 407,772 tonnes last year. Malaysia imported 306,224 tonnes of LNG versus 182,198 tonnes last year. Japan imported 275,217 tonnes, down from 343,032 tonnes in February 2023.

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Origin-operated Australia Pacific LNG, Santos's Gladstone LNG, and Shell's Queensland Curtis LNG.

In 2023, the three projects exported 22.9mn tonnes of LNG, up 1.14% year/year.
