Aussie east coast LNG exports up 5% in June

LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast reached 1.86mn metric tons (mn mt) in June, marking a 4.5% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Gladstone Port Corp. data published on July 6. However, exports declined by 3.1% month-on-month.

China received the largest share of LNG exports, with 1.32mn mt, a significant increase from 858,456 mt in June 2022. South Korea imported 222,988 mt, a decrease from 357,018 mt in the previous year. Malaysia imported 125,836 mt, showing a slight increase from 122,908 mt in the same period last year.

The three projects on the Australian east coast involved in these exports are Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG. In 2022, the combined LNG exports from these projects totaled 22.64mn mt, slightly lower than the record high of 23.47mn mt achieved in 2021.
