Aussie east coast LNG exports up 3% in Oct

LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast came in at 2.06mn metric tons (mt) in October, up 2.5% year/year, according to the latest data published by Gladstone Ports Corp. The exports were up 6.7% month/month.

China continued to be the biggest buyer and imported 1.2mn mt of LNG, slightly lower than the 1.21mn mt imported in the same month last year. South Korea shipped in 348,447 mt, up from 342.070 mt in October 2020. Japan imported 128,845 mt of LNG versus 127,999 mt while Malaysia imported 247,602 mt, up from 189,280 mt last year, the data showed.

The three east coast projects are Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG and Queensland Curtis LNG. In the 12 months to June 30, these projects exported a record 23mn mt of LNG.
