Aussie east coast LNG exports hit record in 2021

LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast came in at record 23.47mn metric tons in 2021, up 4.96% year/year, Gladstone Ports Corp said on January 6.

China was the bigger buyer and imported 15.65mn mt of LNG, up 4% yr/yr while South Korea imported 3.64mn mt, up 11% yr/yr. Japan imported 1.42mn mt, down 6% yr/yr, and Malaysia 1.86mn mt, down 7% yr/yr.

The three LNG export projects are 9mn mt/yr Australia Pacific LNG, the 7.8mn mt/yr Gladstone LNG, and 8.5mn mt/yr Queensland Curtis LNG.
