Aurelian Extends Block 208 Licence in Poland

Aurelian Oil & Gas has today announced that extended its licence for Block 208 in Poland for another three years, following the granting of the extension by the Polish Ministry of Environment.

The Block 208 licence is part of the Poznan East licence and neighbours Block 207, also held by Aurelian, which had its licence extended in December last year. Block 208 is also adjacent to the "Fences" concession, operated by PGNiG, and has potential Rotliegendes and Zechstein opportunities, Aurelian says.

The extensions on both blocks will last until 12 February 2015.

Block 207 holds the Siekierki gas field and the Krzesinki-1 gas discovery, where a positive gas discovery was made in October. Block 208 will undergo a 150 kilometre 2-D seismic Geological Work Programme as part of the extension. The company has already acquired 200 kilometres of 2-D seismic on the block in 2011, with the results of that activity currently being evaluated.

Energia Zachod, a company in which Aurelian holds a 90 per cent stake with Avobone Poland the other 10 per cent, has a 100 per cent interest in the Poznan East licence.

"We are delighted to have been granted an extension to this licence," John Smallwood, Exploration Director said. "This brings the Block in line with the recently extended Block 207 licence and protects the investments we have made in this significant regional tight gas play. We look forward to providing further updates on this Block and the Siekierki Project more generally in due course."
