Arrowsmith 2 Spuds in EP413

Norwest Energy announced that the Arrowsmith–2 well in Exploration Permit EP413 was spudded on Sunday, May 29th, 2011.

Arrowsmith-2 will be drilled to a target depth (TD) of approximately 3,400 meters and will take +/- 37 days to reach it.

The objective of the well evaluation program (spanning several months) will be a full assessment on the viability of several formations identified for their potential hydrocarbon content. The primary objective is to test the shale gas potential of both the Carynginia Formation and the Irwin River Coal Measures, whereas the secondary objective is to test both the shale gas/condensate potential of the lower Kockatea Shale and the additional possibility of a conventional gas play within the High Cliff Sandstones.

As a part of the drilling program, a comprehensive logging and coring program will be undertaken, with core samples being taken from the middle Carynginia Shale and the Irwin River Coal Measures for further evaluation. Later in Quarter 3 2011, the well will be re-entered, fracture stimulated and subsequently flow tested in order to fully assess the productive capacity of the potential reservoir zones.

As of 6.00am WST on 30 May the well was drilling ahead at a measured depth of 580 meters.

The participants in Arrowsmith 2 are:

Norwest Energy NL (Operator) 27.945%

AWE Limited (via subsidiaries) 44.252%
