Armour Energy to Further Test Barney Creek Shale

Armour Energy has spudded a highly deviated lateral well from within the Glyde-1 vertical well in the MacArthur Basin, which encountered continuous gas shows within the target Barney Creek Shale.

Proactive Investors Australia reported citing a company statement that the Glyde-1 Lateral well will test the gas bearing potential of vertical fractures in the Barney Creek Shale.
    
Glyde-1, which was drilled to a total depth of 698 metres, intersected 132 metres of gas-charged, naturally-fractured Barney Creek Shale before intersecting the Coxco Dolomite Formation. 

This gas consisted primarily of Methane, Ethane and Propane along with some heavier Butane and Pentane. Carbon dioxide levels were negligible and no water was encountered during drilling.

Gas flares were also noted at the surface from the Barney Creek Shale Formation during reintroduction of compressed air after drilling downtimes. 

Cuttings samples were taken for further analyses of both gas and organic carbon content.
