Aramco Plans New Phase of Jafura Gas Plant

State-owned Saudi Armaco is developing unconventional resources in the Al Hasa region of Saudi Arabia and will start a new phase of Jafura gas plant construction next year, CEO Amin H. Nasser March 20 told the Al-Hasa Investment Forum.

"As part of Saudi Aramco's investment plan, we will start a new phase of the Jafura gas plant construction next year. This is a huge plant that will produce sales gas, ethane, condensate and natural gas liquids. The plant is part of Saudi Aramco's plan to produce 3bn ft3 of unconventional gas over the next decade,” he said.

Nasser mentioned that Al-Hasa has significant resources of unconventional gas that includes a high percentage of liquids, and that Saudi Aramco is currently developing these resources.

Saudi Aramco aims to double its natural gas production over the coming decade to 23bn ft³/day, and raise the share of gas in the Kingdom’s utilities to about 70%.
