Angus ramps up gas output at UK Saltfleetby field by 75%

Angus has increased gas flow from the Saltfleetby field in East Lincolnshire, England, by three quarters after commissioning a second compressor at the site, the London-listed junior said on May 15.

Since the commissioning on May 15, the three wells at the field have been flowing gas into the national grid at a rate of 9.5mn ft3/day, up 75% versus output in the first quarter. The newest of the wells, B7T, is alone delivering 4-5mn ft3/d of gas through a temperature flowline as clean-up continues.

"The achievement of our goal of putting three wells in production through the Saltfleetby facility is very satisfying and represents an important milestone for the company as it positions for strong cash flow generation and growth in the future," Angus CEO Richard Herbert said in a statement.

Saltfleetby was discovered in 1996 and brought on stream three years later. It was shut down in 2017, however, after the nearby Theddlethorpe gas terminal was closed, leaving its gas stranded.

Angus acquired the project in 2022, and restarted production in August of that year, after commissioning a new pipeline linking the field to the national grid.
