Anadarko Ups Mozambique Gas Resources

Anadarko Petroleum said last week that it has increased the estimated recoverable natural gas resources in Rovuma Basin, Area 1, offshore Mozambique, to a range of 45 to 70 plus trillion cubic feet (Tcf), up from the previous range of 35 to 65 plus Tcf.

So far, seven gas fields have been discovered in the block. Of these, three fields - Lagosta, Windjammer and Barquentine - extend into the adjacent Block Area 4 where Italy’s ENI with a 70 per stake is the operator.

Anadarko's 2014 program in Mozambique is focused on advancing the development toward first LNG cargoes in 2018, Anadarko said in its 2014 capital expectations and guidance.

The consortium members in the block include the operator, Anadarko (26.5%), BPCL (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Ltd. (10%), ONGC Videsh Ltd. (10%), Cove Energy (8.5%) and Mitsui (20%).

The balance 15% is with Empressa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), the national oil company of Mozambique.
