Aminex Points to Faltering Tanzania Flows

Aminex, the UK-listed operator of the Kiliwani North field in Tanzania, said November 6 that its KN-1 well there is producing less than 1mn ft3/d.

It blamed “low reservoir pressure and inlet pressure restrictions of the gas processing plant” and said it is talking to state Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation ('TPDC') about reducing the inlet pressure at the gas process plant and about installing compressors in order to boost production rates, and that suitable compressors are currently being sourced.

"There may eventually be an adjustment to the carrying value of the Kiliwani North asset, which the company does not at present expect to be material," said Aminex.

It had said July 20 that KN-1 averaged only 15mn ft3/d to date, at that point, during 2017.
