Amec FW Secures BP Framework Contract

Amec Foster Wheeler announced April 7 that it has been awarded a global framework contract by BP to provide engineering, procurement support and project management services for pre-FEED (front end engineering and design) and FEED work across a range of projects.

The scope of services for the contract covers onshore, offshore, subsea, drilling, greenfield and brownfield upstream engineering services in Alaska, Angola, Azerbaijan, Egypt, US Gulf of Mexico, Indonesia, Oman, Trinidad and the UK.

The contract is for three years with an option to extend for two additional years. Its value was not disclosed.

It follows a major contracts announced last month from Brunei Shell Petroleum, also undisclosed, plus a £60mn contract extension from Centrica for engineering, construction and project support at the latter's UK Morecambe Bay gasfields,  an owner’s engineer contract by Chile's GNL Quintero regasification unit, and a five-year global framework agreement with Shell for its downstream operations.

On March 13, UK-based Wood Group made a friendly takeover bid for rival UK-US contractor Amec FW that values the latter at £2.225bn.
