Algerian Hydrocarbon Exports Could Rise by 4% This Year

Algerian hydrocarbon exports could rise 4.1% this year as production is projected to touch 195 million tons oil equivalent (TOE) in 2015, Algeria Press Service reported citing government statement.

"By the end of this year, additional gas and oil outputs are expected in the fields of Hassi Rmel, Hassi Messaoud, Berkine and El Merk, pushing up the total production to 195 million TOE," said a statement issued by council of ministers Tuesday.

According to the statement, the programme to boost hydrocarbon production, in the short and medium terms, will help bring production up to 224 million TOE in 2019, by raising the recovery rates of fields, especially those of Hassi Messaoud and Hassi Rmel and by speeding up the development of fields in Ahnet-Tidikelt, Tinhert, Timimoun and Reggane.

In 2007, Algeria's hydrocarbon production reached a peak of 233 million TOE before dropping to 187 million TOE in 2012. There was a mild recovery in production in 2013.
