Algeria Expects Hydrocarbon Production to Recover by 2017

Algeria’s hydrocarbon production, which has been on a decline since 2010, is expected to recover by 2018 to reach 225 million toe (tonne of oil equivalent), Algeria Press Service (APS) reported Sunday citing sources in Sonatrach, country’s state owned energy company.

Country’s hydrocarbon production in 2013 stood at 195 million toe.

On gas production, the sources told APS that production at Tinhert (Illizi) field, will reach 14 million cubic metres of gas by 2016 and will subsequently increase to 24 million m3/day in 2017.

Two other deposits, Hassi Bahamou and Hassi Mena, will produce 21 million m3 of gas / day from 2017.

The Reggane project, to be developed with Spain's Repsol, Germany's RWE-DEA and Italy's Edison, is also expected to be commissioned in 2017 with expected output of 12 million cubic metres per day.

Sonatrach is also developing Twat project, which has capacity of 12 million m3/day, with France’s GDF and Timimoun project with Total, whose capacity will reach 5 million m3/day, APS reported.
