Indian Terminal to Start Soon: Adani

Adani Group’s LNG import terminal at Mundra Port in the western Indian state of Gujarat is expected to be operational soon, a company official told The Hindu April 7.

He said the construction of the 5mn mt/yr LNG terminal is complete and commissioning is expected in “the short run”.

The LNG terminal is a joint venture project between Adani Enterprises and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation. The terminal will have receiving, storage and re-gasification facilities for LNG and will be connected to Gujarat State Petronet’s existing pipeline network at Anjaar, Gujarat.

At present India has four operational terminals, all on the west coast. Petronet LNG operates two terminals in Dahej in Gujarat state and Kochi in southern state of Kerela while Shell operates one at Hazira also in Gujarat and Gail operates the Dabhol LNG terminal in Maharashtra.

A number of import terminals are expected on both coastlines in the next five years but strengthening infrastructure on the east coast will help increase supply to gas in the under-served eastern states.
