Adani's east India terminal gets 1st LNG cargo

Adani Total Private, a joint venture of Adani Group and France's TotalEnergies, has received its first LNG cargo at the Dhamra LNG import terminal on India's east coast, Karan Adani, CEO of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones (APSEZ) announced on LinkedIn on April 1.

“On Utkal Diwas, Odisha's formation day, Adani Ports and SEZ is privileged to welcome to Dhamra Port its first cargo of LNG aboard the Milaha Ras Laffan,” Adani said. “This is a huge leap forward not only in access to clean and affordable energy but also in decarbonising India's energy sector.”

Qatari ship Milaha Ras Laffan docked at Dhamra Port in the eastern Indian state of Odisha on April 1 morning, bringing in 2.6 trillion Btu of LNG which will be used to commission the 5mn metric tons/year facility, Press Trust of India reported.

Dhamra is the only LNG import terminal in eastern India and the second on the entire east coast. The country's five other terminals are on its western coast.
