ABC: Central Petroleum General Manager Richard Cottee says the CSG Industry Has Failed to Sell Itself

A key player in the gas industry, Richard Cottee, the man responsible for getting coal seam gas production going in southern Queensland, says the industry has failed to sell itself around the country.

"I think there's been an enormous failure of communication of precisely how important gas is to the NSW economy," he said.

Mr Cottee, general manager of Central Petroleum, said the industry had a good message to convey and farmers needed to understand the benefits of co-existence for regional communities.

"I'd like them to go to places like Chinchilla and see just what a beneficial effect there is and how much you can co-exist with each other."

Mr Cottee spoke at a recent gas conference in Sydney that was addressed by the NSW Minister of Resources Anthony Roberts. MORE
