GTT pens licence agreement with PipeChina

Global LNG containment system expert GTT on May 2 announced a licence agreement with China's PipeChina. The deal paves the way for the utilisation of GTT's membrane containment technology in onshore LNG storage facilities.

Under the terms of the agreement, PipeChina Engineering Technology Innovation Co. (PipeChina Innovation) and GTT will collaborate closely to pursue commercial projects focused on the construction of onshore LNG storage tanks. These tanks will not only incorporate GTT's GST membrane containment technology but also feature renewable energy storage solutions, GTT said.

Last year, GTT signed an agreement with PipeChina Innovations to supply its GST membrane full containment tank technology for PipeChina's upcoming LNG projects.

PipeChina was established in December 2019 in Beijing. The company is primarily involved in the investment, construction, and operation of critical infrastructure such as oil and gas trunk pipeline networks, gas storage facilities, and peak-shaving systems.

The Chinese state-owned company plays a role in ensuring the interconnection of trunk pipeline networks and city pipelines, as well as the efficient operation and management of national oil and gas pipeline networks. PipeChina Innovation, a subsidiary of PipeChina Group, spearheads initiatives related to technical innovation, strategic planning, engineering management, and digitalization, among others.
