Carnival Corp signs agreement for another LNG-powered cruise ship

Carnival Corporation on March 26 announced the signing of an agreement with Germany's Meyer Werft shipyard for the construction of a fifth LNG-powered Excel-class cruise ship for its Carnival Cruise Line brand. The delivery of the new vessel is scheduled for 2028. 

This agreement follows Carnival Corporation's announcement in mid-February regarding the placement of the first newbuild order in five years. The company disclosed plans for a fourth Excel-class ship to join the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in Spring 2027. 

This announcement confirms an 11th Excel-class ship for the corporation's fleet across four of its brands, and the fifth to be sailed by Carnival Cruise Line. 

The upcoming vessel will be constructed on the same platform as its predecessors, featuring a 180,000-tonne design powered by LNG. It is designed accommodate over 6,400 guests and 1,800 crew members.
