    LNG Exports from Gladstone Continue to Rise

LNG Exports from Gladstone Continue to Rise

Exports of LNG from Queensland’s Gladstone Port stood at 1.75mn metric tons (mt) in December, according to the latest data published by Gladstone Port Corporation. Exports were 1.64mn mt in November.

China, South Korea, Japan and Singapore remained the top destinations. Exports to China during the month were 946,288 mt compared with 906,251 mt in November. Total shipment to Japan was 195,417 mt compared with 189,908 mt in November. Exports to South Korea were 414,667 mt compared with 482,381 mt in November.

For the whole of calendar year 2016, LNG exports from Gladstone were 15.5mn mt compared with 5.6mn mt in 2015.

Exports have risen as more coalbed methane-LNG trains have come on stream on Curtis Island. Gladstone Port expects the trend of rising exports to continue in the current year as well.
