Korea's DSME wins $420mn contract for two LNGCs

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has bagged a 595.9bn won ($420mn) contract to build two LNG carriers (LNGCs), it said on September 22 in a stock exchange filing.

The contract has been awarded by an unnamed ship owner based in the Oceania region. The carriers will be delivered by July 2026, DSME said.

Yonhap News Agency reported that the deal could be related to the $19bn contract that DSME and two other Korean shipbuilders — Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries — signed with QatarEnergy in 2020.
