Gazprom Speeds Up Cooperation with Slovenia for South Stream

Gazprom and the Slovenian Government discussed the current status of cooperation between Russia and Slovenia in the gas sector.

Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee, and Samo Omerzel, Minister of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia, decided to speed up the design process of the Slovenian section of the gas pipeline. The project is carried out by the South Stream Slovenia LLC joint company.

‘At present, the work is nearing completion on the spatial planning and environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedures conducted under the national laws of Slovenia for the gas pipeline sections from the boarders with Hungary and Italy,’ reads a note released by Gazprom after the meeting

The prospects for the construction of the South Stream natural pipeline in Slovenia looked even firmer last week at the event South Stream: The Evolution of a Pipeline, which took place in the country's capital Ljubljana, where policymakers and corporate stakeholders pledged their support for the project.
