BBC: Earthquakes for fracking for gas 'are quite weak'

A controversial gas extraction method which triggered two earth tremors near Blackpool last year should continue under strict conditions, a report by a panel of experts suggests.

The process - fracking - involves pumping water and chemicals into shale rock at high pressure to extract gas.

Speaking to the BBC, report author Prof Peter Styles said that earthquakes caused by fracking were "quite weak" and "not likely to cause significant damage". VIDEO
